Kenvue supports next generation of STEM leaders through Sustainable London challenge

Kenvue Newcomer of the Year Award

At Kenvue we earn trust through science and create pathways for individuals to access and succeed in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Throughout May, June and July, Kenvue staff supported London students in the Sustainable London challenge, run by youth-led company Motivez. The challenge brought together Year 10 students to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders – ultimately sparking solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Kenvue staff participated as mentors and judges at qualifying hackathons in schools across the London borough of Hillingdon. The team worked together with 600 students from Uxbridge High School, Swakeleys School for Girls, and Oak Wood School to inspire early classroom interest in STEM through real world challenges.

Groups competed to develop sustainable futureproof solutions, which may reduce the environmental footprint of personal care and over the counter products. Listergreen from Swakeleys School for Girls took first prize in the regional final for their project exploring natural algae-based dyes for mouthwash, as well as redesigning more accessible packaging.

Competing in the London final against teams from all over the capital, Listergreen received a ‘Stronger Together’ commendation for their amazing teamwork throughout the entire competition. Kenvue was also recognised with the ‘Newcomer Partner of the Year’ Award for our support through the 2025 challenge - a firm stamp of our commitment to driving equitable early access to STEM careers.

George Imafidon MBE, CEO, Motivez, said:
“Kenvue’s support of the flagship Sustainable London programme is a bold commitment to driving local change and equity in STEM. The creativity, sustainability, and entrepreneurial thinking shown by these students, with guidance from Kenvue mentors, demonstrates the power of opportunity and collaboration. These students are not just talking about more sustainable consumer health solutions; they are designing them. Together, we are laying the foundation for an empowered STEM workforce that truly reflects the society it serves.”

Shalin Patel, Vice President Global Safety Operations, Kenvue, said:
“It was an honour to judge the Sustainable London finals, which was a true celebration of the next generation of climate conscious STEM leaders! At Kenvue, we are guided in all our work by our Healthy Lives Mission, striving to empower people with the tools to make healthier choices for themselves, their loved ones, and the planet. The Sustainable London challenge inspired all to keep thinking creatively about sustainable solutions for our everyday lives.”
