Chris Aiello is reimagining how our company builds products. As our Principal Sustainable Innovation Scientist, he embeds environmental thinking into every stage of innovation while advancing our Healthy Lives Mission. From sustainable product tools to Kenvue Cares, here’s what motivates him.
What does a Principal Innovation Scientist do?
I work with our product and packaging teams around the world to make our innovation process more sustainable, in service of our Healthy Lives Mission. We aim to build better products for people and the planet.
What sustainability project excites you most?
Our Sustainable Innovation Profiler is a tool we built to help us figure out how we can make our new products more sustainable. I’ve had the pleasure of finding ways to make each product more environmentally conscious, alongside our R&D team.
Most recently, we used the Profiler for Johnson’s® Baby Chamomile Scent Bar Soap in Latin America. Through this process, we refine our ingredient selection for products to better align with our safety standards and gentle care values, while considering Green Chemistry—prioritizing ingredients with better environmental profiles and improved biodegradability.
What impressed you the most from the 2026 Healthy Lives Mission report?
The Healthy Lives Mission is committed to supporting healthier communities. As part of that, Kenvue Cares Week, our volunteer program, is one of the most impressive initiatives making real change.
This was my first year participating, and I was inspired by how our company comes together to give time, talent, and care to those who need it most. The program grew 4x this year—more than 3,000 Kenvuers across 30 sites and 110 volunteer events contributed 7,750 hours. I was lucky enough to be part of that through one of our blood donation events.
What’s rewarding about your job?
I get to experience transformation firsthand. We are becoming a more sustainable company, and I get to work on a lot of what brings that strategy to life for our consumers around the world.
Lastly, what are your must-have self-care products?
I start my mornings with Listerine® Total Care Intense Anticavity Mouthwash and am always tinkering with my daily routine, trying different products to see what I like best.
At night, I use Aveeno® Stress Relief Body Wash in Calming Lavender. It sounds small, but it actually makes me feel relaxed before going to bed.
