Making sun safety a priority with Neutrogena®

Neutrogena® is advancing sun safety by expanding sunscreen education, advocating for better access to innovative sunscreen ingredients, and bringing free sun protection to high-reach cultural and sporting events

In the U.S., more people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year than all other cancers combined, yet many Americans still do not include sunscreen as part of their everyday skincare routine. This is where our Neutrogena® team saw an opportunity to connect the dots between a product that so many look forward to using daily and the need for advocacy, access and education on the importance of daily sun protection.

Spreading Awareness Through Culture and Community
In a 2025 campaign featuring WWE Superstar John Cena, we put the spotlight on sun safety and protection. The campaign generated more than 4 billion impressions, encouraging healthier sun protection habits and reinforcing that “you can’t see” Neutrogena®’s Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70.

Neutrogena®also brought vital lessons on sun safety to 18,000 teachers and 450,000 students across 29 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. through a partnership with educational programming agency Young Minds Inspired, alongside collaborative efforts with The Skin Cancer Foundation and Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF).

Advocating for Better Access to Sunscreen
Neutrogena®supports public health advocacy with the Public Access to Sun Screens (PASS) Coalition, a multi-stakeholder group focused on improving access to safe, effective, and innovative sunscreen products in the U.S. Alongside PASS, the Personal Care Products Council, and the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, Neutrogena®is helping to modernize the FDA review process for new sunscreen ingredients, driving momentum for advanced, everyday suncare products in the U.S. market.

Bringing Sun Protection to the Biggest Stages
Hot weather and outdoor fun call for sun protection that can withstand the elements. Neutrogena®stepped up as an official sunscreen sponsor at Coachella, and as a first-time sponsor of the World Surf League. Through these major events, the brand has distributed nearly 35,000gallons of free sunscreen, making it easier than ever for attendees to protect their skin and remember to reapply.

Innovation Designed for Everyday Use
In 2025, Neutrogena®introduced Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70, a lightweight mineral sunscreen with an invisible finish that delivers high-factor SPF protection without the heavy, chalky feel associated with traditional formulas.
