Kenvue is working toward zero manufacturing waste across its global facilities by reducing waste at the source, increasing reuse and recycling, and applying circular manufacturing practices.
Every day, materials move through Kenvue’s manufacturing facilities around the world – creating the products people have loved and depended on for decades. Finding ways to use those materials more efficiently, keep valuable resources in circulation, and reduce what goes to waste is an important part of Healthy Lives Mission, our sustainability strategy designed to drive everyday care.
Circular manufacturing means designing operations to reduce waste, keep materials in use longer, and recover more value from resources already in the system.Across our manufacturing network, we are working to improve resource efficiency and keep more materials out of landfill.
Rethinking waste
Zero manufacturing waste is not just about recycling more. It means preventing waste before it is created, reusing materials whenever possible, and keeping more resources out of landfill. At Kenvue, we follow a hierarchy that prioritizes reducing waste at the source, followed by reuse, recycling, composting, and energy recovery. We are also applying circular economy principles across manufacturing, logistics, product design, and supply chain decisions to help keep materials in use for longer and reduce the amount sent to landfill.
To support this work, we have implemented a Total Waste Management Program across our manufacturing network. The program helps identify opportunities to reduce waste generation, improve recycling and reuse practices, strengthen waste tracking, and share successful approaches across facilities.
We also conduct waste management assessments at select manufacturing locations to better understand where improvements can be made and what strategies can help advance progress toward our zero manufacturing waste ambition.
Progress in action
Several Kenvue facilities have already reached important milestones on their journey toward zero manufacturing waste.
Kenvue manufacturing sites in Bangkok, Thailand; Dabao, China; and Mumbai, India have achieved TRUE Platinum certification, a leading zero waste certification that recognizes high landfill diversion, strong waste reduction practices, improving resource efficiency, and embedding circular practices throughout their operations.
Meanwhile, our facility in Lititz, Pennsylvania, has been certified as a Zero Waste to Landfill site. This means waste generated at the facility is diverted away from landfill through approaches such as reuse, recycling, composting, and energy recovery, helping ensure materials continue to provide value rather than becoming waste.
将来を見据えて
Our approach to waste management is closely connected to broader efforts across product design, water stewardship, and operational efficiency. By understanding how materials move through our business, we can identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact while making better use of valuable resources.
Working toward zero manufacturing waste is a continuous journey. By reducing waste at the source, advancing circular practices, and empowering facilities to develop local solutions, Kenvue is helping build a more resource-efficient future for people and the planet.
