Kenvue and Family Equality: 10 years of partnership supporting the LGBTQIA+ community

Since 2011, CARE WITH PRIDE®, our Kenvuer-led initiative, has fiercely championed full equality, inclusivity, care and representation for the LGBTQIA+ community. Now, 13 years later, marks the beginning of a new decade for CARE WITH PRIDE® as we celebrate its 10th anniversary of partnership with Family Equality — one of Kenvue’s longest-standing partnerships.

Founded in 1979 at the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, Family Equality has spent more than 40 years ensuring that everyone has the freedom to find, form and sustain their families by advancing equality for the LGBTQIA+ community. Throughout the last decade and beyond, their important work as the leading voice advocating for LGBTQIA+ families made the organization a perfect fit as our partner.

Building on last year’s success, CARE WITH PRIDE® is proud to continue its support for Family Equality with another in-person Family Week event this summer in Provincetown, MA. For years, Family Week has brought together nearly 2,000 individuals, including close to 600 families — the largest annual gathering of LGBTQ+ families worldwide. With each year comes a dedication to creating enhanced experiences, including the free Family Night event where every family comes together to enjoy backyard games, a live DJ and activities. Kenvue also shows up for Family Equality throughout the year at fundraising events such as Night at the Pier — which shines a spotlight on and celebrates the stories of LGBTQIA+ families, advocates and allies during these crucial times — and LA Impact later this fall.

Outright International

In addition to our work with Family Equality, in 2023, Kenvue established a new partnership with Outright International, aligning with its mission to extend support globally and secure a world where LGBTQIA+ individuals can live freely, openly love, and achieve their full potential, free from violence and with dignity. This collaboration reflects our shared dedication to fostering a more inclusive and supportive global community.

Outright International was founded in 1990 by activist Julie Dorf, with considerable involvement from other activists, including notable Russian author, journalist and activist Masha Gessen. And throughout the years, their global programs have strengthened the capacity of the LGBTQIA+ human rights movement, including the Celebration of Courage Awards and Gala, which recognizes the achievements and voices of activists and allies driving progress worldwide.

Microgrants

Designed to deepen advocacy impact by strategically allocating funds to critical work in moments of need in real-time, CARE WITH PRIDE® microgrants are offered to organizations with no strings — and are intended for anything from purchasing fresh foods for pantry services, items for hygiene and safe sex kits, clothes or other programming support. Beneficiaries have included the LA Trans Chorus, the first all-trans-identified choir in the world, The Okra Project, a grassroots organization addressing food insecurity in the Black Trans community, and the Orlando LGBTQ Center, offering counseling, health screenings, support groups and social activities to promote well-being and inclusivity.

When these organizations are in need, we feel a deep responsibility to respond in meaningful ways. In 2020, upon learning the national memorial of the Orlando Pulse nightclub mass shooting was defaced with white nationalist stickers, we took immediate action. At the same time, the Orlando LGBTQ Center’s phone lines appeared to have been cut, making them unable to field calls from those in need during the pandemic until repairs were made. Within mere days of the incident, the Center was offered a microgrant to restore and further beautify the memorial mural, aid in enhanced security and fix the phone and tech-related issues due to the vandalism.

CARE WITH PRIDE® sees and stands strong with these organizations around the world, declaring fiercely that there is no place for hate and discrimination in Orlando — or anywhere else — all day, every day, all year long.
