Fathers, sons, and daughters: Stayfree® aims to break the stigma around periods

Advancing health means breaking down barriers to well-being. One major obstacle is the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation. In India, Stayfree® has led efforts to change the conversation around periods for over four years, encouraging families to talk openly and honestly so girls feel supported.

The brand’s “It’s Just a Period” campaign aimed to normalize conversations about menstruation—empowering girls and their families to view periods as a natural part of life. By fostering open communication at home, the campaign creates a safe space for girls to ask questions and build confidence.

Since launching, Stayfree® expanded the initiative with #BetaStayfreeLeAana (“Son, buy a Stayfree®”), a digital campaign designed to spark communication on menstruation between fathers and daughters, with an emphasis on including their sons in these conversations. Heartwarming family moments highlighted the power of love and trust, reframing menstruation as a shared family conversation. This helped reduce stigma and boosted confidence and well-being for young girls.

By treating menstruation as a normal part of life, Stayfree® is helping to break down stigmas that can limit education and self-assurance. This effort reflects our Healthy Lives Mission—nurturing healthy people and empowering their lives through quality products and essential information to care for themselves and those they love, every day.
